Skipping

As we were sitting on the mat Mr Moran came in and it looked like he had something in mind. We quietly lined up and Mr Moran gave us ten points. Our people who were counting were Petero, Shayna, Finau and Aye-Myat.

Sitting down on the hard ground we had a skipping rope and cones. There also was a giant rope on the other side. I was wondering what we were doing.

Mr Moran came to the front and said " we are going to do some skipping. Everyone was excited even the boys. Sitting down Mr Moran demo-straightThe rules were we had to pick up the skipping rope and do two skips. Then we had to to while skipping. Last thing to do was drop the skipping rope you were using before and get the other one and do five skips then run back.

Now for the game.

Hinemoana went to the giant rope first while Te Aurere, Hokulea, and Hikianalia stayed behind. The first people to go was Julius, Seselia and Ema. Waiting for my turn I was wondering if we will win.

When it was my turn I had butterflies in my tummy. When I started Mr Moran was being silly and trying to show me how to skip. Soon we were finish and it was time for Hikianalia and Hokulea to go to the big rope.

While waiting we had to get ready. Later we started, and the first thing we did was just running under the rope. I was first and I was scared because it might wack me. Safely I made it.

Now it was time to do something similar. We jumped twice and we had to boast out. Again it was my turn as soon as I hopped in my heart stopped for a second.

It was time to do the last raotion. We had to to wait for Te Aurere so we could do the finals. While waiting Mr Moran gave Te Aurere twenty points because they were doing good skipping.

Now for the final.

Coming back Mr Moran told us to pick one boy and one girl to do the final challenge. From our team it was Roman and Gabby. From Hinemoana it was Kiarah and Exodus, and from Te Aurere and Hokulea was Bronson and Adriana, and From Te Aurere Keyana and Tee-jay.

Mr Moan said " who ever cheers the loudest gets one hundred points". First place 40 points second 30 third 20 and last 10. So the one hundred points went to Hinemoana.

We head back to class and put the points up 10 to Hokulea,Hikianalia 35, Hinemoana 140 and Te Aurere 50 points. I  had a great time because I had such a treat with my friends and I got fit.

My culture is special to me because its part of me and I love being a Tongan. Family is another very important thing because they have been there for me my whole life. My family like my mum packs my lunch and my grandpa drives me to school. School is part of me because it has helped me spell and count and things I couldn't do. I never want to leave because school is fun and it is like home to me. Food is special to me because it taste good. My favourite food is pizza,ice cream and chicken.
